Local renewables conference 2016 - Energising the smart city and region

The conference is organized by the cities of Freiburg and Basel and ICLEI and addresses the need for European cities to step up to the challenge of having to reduce energy consumption and to utilize local energy sources more effectively and more efficiently to meet EU climate objectives. Cities and regions are vital in making energy more secure, affordable and sustainable. Finding innovative ways to meet energy demands using smart technologies and meeting the needs of citizen at the same time are just some of the issues being discussed in an international forum consisting of representatives from leading and learning cities, policy makers, businesses and research and finance institutions.
